I found two roof sculptures
on buildings in St. Ives when I was walking around the town
in 2015. The one on the Manor House, Ayr off Alexandra Road was in good condition but the other on the house opposite the Leach Pottery once owned by Edgar Skinner had been
decapitated! Since then the building that the latter rode
has been demolished and a new house has been built in its place, this now has a new sculpture made by the owner on a workshop held by Debra Sloan at the Leach Pottery.
There are now two examples of horse and
rider sculptures in the permanent exhibition in the Leach
Pottery Museum and a modern example by Canadian sculptor
Debra Sloan resides on the shop porch at the pottery,
images of these are shown below. If you want to know more
then Debra has written a book entitled Upon
The Roof.
