I first met Anne Mette in 2009 when she had a stall at the Earth & Fire pottery festival at Rufford in Nottinghamshire, I bought one of her willow handled teapots. She also caught the eye of Mike Goldmark
and this is her fourth exhibition at the Goldmark Gallery. Due to the Covid lockdown, Anne Mette's previous exhibition had been an online only event so I was very much looking forward to
visiting the gallery and talking with her to see how her work has developed.
Anne Mette sells her pots exclusively at the Goldmark Gallery and so this exhibition of 672 pots represents three years hard work. She lives on the Danish island of Bornholm where she digs her clays, mixes her glazes and wood fires her pots.
Anne Mette and her partner Jesper are enthusiasts of using local materials and are members of the Bornholm
Wild Clay Research Project.
I visited the exhibition on the opening day, it was well attended and the pots sold well. As usual the Goldmark team were excellent hosts and I particularly enjoyed Mike Goldmark's after lunch conversation with Anne Mette.
